Fixing the group
Ready when: First shots, with a coach (b6) done and regular range sessions.
What the coach teaches
One fault at a time. Where a group of arrows lands (toward the bow hand, toward the drawing hand, high or low) points to a cause: arrows too stiff or too soft for the bow, the bow hand pushing or twisting, the fingers pulling the string sideways (plucking), the anchor moving, or a jerky or slack release.
At home, safe only
The no-bow stance and release-feel work from Stance and the feel of release (b3).
Ask the club
Which one fault to work on this month; how the group is being recorded.
What you can see from the side
The arrows land in a shape that the instructor names.
Self-check what the coach confirms
The instructor marks the child's group on a sheet and the group gets smaller across three sessions.
Stop and get a coach when
An arrow bounces back, a string hits the arm, or equipment looks damaged.
