Privacy Policy
Effective September 7, 2026. This applies to the A Wise Athlete website (awiseathlete.com) and the A Wise Athlete mobile app, wherever either is available.
A Wise Athlete is an information platform for Indian student-athletes and their families — government schemes, sports quota, schooling options, foreign university pathways and related guidance. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the website or the app, how it is used, and the choices available to you. It is written to reflect what this platform actually does, not a generic template.
Who operates this
A Wise Athlete is operated by Ransh Innovations. For any question about this policy or your information, contact director@ranshinnovations.com.
There is no account or sign-up
The website has no login, no user accounts and no comment system. The Guide tool (the four-question reading-order builder) runs entirely in your browser — your answers are encoded into the page's own address bar so you can share or bookmark a result, and are never sent to or stored on any server we operate.
Information collected automatically
Like almost any website, our hosting provider's servers log standard technical information for every visit — your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, and the time of the request. This is normal web-server operation, used for security and reliability, not to identify you personally.
The site remembers one preference on your own device: whether you last read in day or night mode, stored in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device and we cannot see it.
The app has no login or account either. It stores a small amount of information only on your own device — your saved articles, your progress through a reading series, and any preferences you set in its Settings screen — none of which is sent to or stored on any server we operate.
Analytics: Google Firebase
Both the website and the app use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how they're used in aggregate — which pages or screens are visited, roughly how many people use the platform, and which features are used — the same underlying Google Analytics product in both cases, registered as one Firebase project with a separate connection for the website and for the app. This does not identify you personally; it does not run on this website during local testing, only on the live site.
The app additionally uses Firebase Crashlytics to learn when something in the app has gone wrong on a real device — an error message and which screen it happened on, so it can actually be fixed — the same non-identifying purpose as the diagnostic logging any app maintainer needs. Crashlytics is not available for websites, so it is not used on awiseathlete.com.
Google's own explanations of what Firebase collects and how are the authoritative source, not this page:
Advertising: Google AdSense and Google AdMob
The website shows ads served by Google AdSense; the app, once it carries ads, will use Google AdMob. Both are Google services, and both work the same underlying way: Google (and, where enabled, its advertising partners) uses cookies (on the web) or advertising identifiers (on mobile) to serve ads and measure their performance, and may use information about your visits to this and other sites or apps to show ads it judges more relevant to you.
We do not control what Google or its partners do with this data beyond what their own policies describe. Google's own explanations of this are the authoritative source, not this page:
- How Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services
- Google Privacy Policy
- AdMob and data collection
Your choices: On the web, you can review and adjust how Google personalises ads to you at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of interest-based advertising generally through the Digital Advertising Alliance. Most browsers also let you block or delete advertising cookies directly in their settings. On mobile, both Android and iOS have a device-level setting to opt out of, or reset, ad personalisation (commonly under Settings → Privacy → Ads, or Settings → Google → Ads) — this applies across every app that uses AdMob, not just this one.
Cookies
The website itself sets no cookies of its own — the day/night preference uses local storage, not a cookie. Any cookies present come from Google's advertising scripts described above, once ads are shown to you. You can inspect or clear these at any time in your browser's own cookie settings.
Children's privacy
Some of the content here is relevant to children as young as 8, but the platform is written for and addressed to parents and older student-athletes making decisions together — it is not designed to collect personal information directly from young children, and it has no sign-up form through which a child could submit any. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a manner that would require verifiable parental consent under applicable law.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided us with personal information some other way, contact us at the address above and we will act on it. Where a user is known to be a child, Google's own policies restrict how AdSense/AdMob may serve personalised ads to that user — see Google's linked policies above for what that means in practice; that restriction is Google's to apply, not a setting this site configures per visitor.
Links to other sites
Articles on this platform cite and link to official government portals, universities, sports federations and news sources so you can verify figures at the source. Once you follow one of those links you are on a site we do not control, governed by its own privacy practices, not this one.
Data security
Because there is no account system and no server-side storage of personal data tied to your use of the site, there is very little of yours for us to secure in the first place. What technical logs do exist sit with our hosting provider's standard infrastructure. No method of transmission over the internet is ever perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security for data in transit.
Changes to this policy
If what this platform collects or how it uses advertising or analytics changes, this page will be updated and the effective date at the top will change — most recently to add the Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics section above. We do not send notifications for policy updates; check back here if you want the current version.
