Where your record is kept
Everything stays on your phone. These are the answers to what families ask about saving it, moving it and deleting it.
Where is my child’s record kept?
On your phone, inside the app. Sessions, notes, certificates and their photos, the plan and what you have read stay in the app’s own storage. There is no account and nothing is uploaded to us.
On the website, ticks and best scores are kept in your browser only. Another browser, or clearing the browser’s data, starts from zero.
Does anything leave the phone?
Anonymous counts of how the app is used (for example, that a session was finished or an article was opened) go to Google Firebase, with crash reports, so we can fix problems. They never include names, notes, certificate details or anything you type. The privacy policy has the full list.
How do I back up the record?
In the app, open Record, then Back up and restore, then Back up now. The phone’s share sheet opens: send the file to yourself on WhatsApp, or save it to Google Drive or email. Certificate photos go in a second file from the same screen.
Back up again now and then. The app reminds you once, quietly, after five new certificates or twenty sessions since the last backup.
How do I move to a new phone?
Install the app on the new phone, open Record, then Back up and restore, then Choose a backup file. The whole file is checked before anything is written, and nothing already on the phone is replaced. If you have a photo file, restore it after the record file.
If backup is turned on in the phone’s own settings, Android may also bring the record across by itself. The backup file is the sure way.
Can I bring what I did on the website into the app?
Yes. On a sport’s page, below the levels, tap “Carry them into the app”. The ticks travel inside the link itself; nothing is sent to us.
We have more than one child.
Add a profile for each in the app’s Settings. Each child has their own sport, sessions, notes, certificates and plan. A profile is never needed to start.
How do I delete everything?
A single session, note or certificate can be removed inside the app. To delete everything, open the phone’s Settings, then Apps, then A Wise Athlete, then Storage, then Clear storage; or uninstall the app. Make a backup first if you may want it again.
On the website, clear this site’s data in your browser’s settings.
