Laser-run and the obstacle course

Learnt at a club

Ready when: Swimming and fencing basics, with a coach (b3) done.

Before you look for a club

What the coach teaches

Laser-run sets: a short run, calm breathing to settle, then a shooting series; the obstacle course and its rules for the child's age group.

At home, safe only

Target games for the laser-run (b2); a rules quiz from the current obstacle rules (you name a situation, the child gives the ruling).

Ask the club

Which obstacles the club has; the youth rules for the child's age group.

What you can see from the side

The athlete settles their breathing before shooting.

Self-check what the coach confirms

8 of 10 rule questions answered correctly; the coach counts hits in a laser-run set.

Stop and get a coach when

Falls from hanging obstacles, or wrist or shoulder pain.

Intermediate is done when the coach confirms the athlete can handle the load.
