Kabaddi · base setup

Mark your space

Mark it once. Every card in kabaddi starts from this space and adds what it needs.

Fits: One room, Yard or lane, Terrace, Park, Ground or field

Seen from above, to scale: 3 m by 5 m.

The space

A court split into two halves for touch kabaddi with a midline and a baulk line; at home a 3 m by 5 m strip with a line as the midline and chalk shapes for the toe-touch game.

Where it fits: lane, terrace (strip games), park, school ground, village ground; a mat for any holds.

Mark in this order

  • The midline
  • A baulk line
  • Four shapes on the floor
  • A start line for the shuttle

Chalk or tape is enough. Tick each mark as you make it.

Practice kit first

Two blocks or bean bags, a small ball, chalk.

Mat and coach for holds only.

Safety

No ankle or thigh holds at home; equal-weight partners; short nails; a coach for tackling.
