Block start and phases of a sprint
Ready when: Sprint technique and start (i1) mastered and a coach is present.
What the coach teaches
The crouch start: "on your marks" (hands just behind the line, eyes a little ahead), "set" (hips rise above the shoulders, front knee bent more than the back one), then low, short steps that lengthen as the body rises.
At home, safe only
General sprint drills in trainers.
Ask the club
How many starts per session; the injury plan for the hamstring.
What you can see from the side
A low first step and a smooth rise.
Self-check what the coach confirms
The coach times the athlete and records the first 30 m split.
Stop and get a coach when
A hamstring pulls or the Achilles hurts.
