Systems and roles, with a coach

Learnt at a club

Ready when: Spike, tip and block basics (i1) started.

Before you look for a club

What the coach teaches

Small-sided games first (3 v 3 with whoever is nearest setting, then a setter at the net, then 4 v 4); shapes for receiving the serve, team systems with one or two setters, block and defence systems, attack coverage, cue reading, roles of setter and libero.

At home, safe only

Play with the ball alone (b1) to Serve and move (b3) against the wall.

Ask the club

The age-group rules (net heights, formats) and the no-cut policy.

What you can see from the side

The team moves as a unit.

Self-check what the coach confirms

The coach marks a 3-touch sequence in a game.

Stop and get a coach when

Shoulder, knee or ankle pain.

Intermediate is done when the coach confirms the player's role and systems.
