The basic climbing move
Ready when: First bouldering sessions (b4) done.
What the coach teaches
Start in a stable position; shake out the hand that will move and look for the next hold; set the feet with the arms long; push with the legs while reaching; take the hold; finish stable. Saying the next hold aloud; climbing a short problem from memory.
At home, safe only
Mime the phases facing a parent, palms touching.
Ask the club
How juniors learn movement technique.
What you can see from the side
A pause, a look, then a smooth move.
Self-check what the coach confirms
The child names the next hold before each move on a short problem.
Stop and get a coach when
Shoulder or elbow pain.
Basic is done when the child meets the self-checks on b1 to b5.
