Mark your space
Mark it once. Every card in shooting starts from this space and adds what it needs.
The space
At home a table and a chair for the knowledge cards; a range (club, school or academy) for everything with a weapon.
Where it fits: indoor room for b1 and b2; a licensed range only for b3 onward.
Practice kit first
A printed target face, paper and pencil, a bean bag or a soft toy for the stillness game. No weapon, no toy weapon aimed at people, no pellets.
Safety
The range officer's word is final; the four safety rules in the form your range uses; only approved ranges and range-supplied firearms, never personal ones; safety glasses and ear plugs or muffs on the range; the range officer inspects every firearm before use, and inspects and declares the firearms safe before anyone goes forward to the targets; wash hands after touching cartridges or spent cases (lead); a range officer whose licence covers that category of firearm supervises at all times.
One school safety standard allows shooting only in secondary school programmes, from age 11.
