Mark it once. Every card in mind sports starts from this space and adds what it needs.
The space
A table and two chairs; a board, or a board drawn on paper with coins for pieces. A free app or online club (CSC names ChessKid for primary pupils and Lichess for older ones) is optional; only play online with people the family knows.
Where it fits: indoor room, any weather.
Mark in this order
- Set the board with a white square at the bottom right of each player
- Queen on her own colour
Chalk or tape is enough. Tick each mark as you make it.
Practice kit first
A paper board, bottle tops for pawns.
Real board and clock only later.
Safety
None needed beyond screen breaks; online play only with trusted people.
