Is the space marked?
- A wall line at net height
- A home base spot
- A service target
A feeder, a net.
Three minutes to get warm.
Easy jogging on the spot, then arms and legs. How to warm up well is explained at workonfitness.com.
- Lob: from the back, open the racket face and lift the ball high and deep over the net players.
- Bandeja: turn sideways under a high ball, racket up behind the head.
- Hit across and under the ball with a slicing swing so it goes deep with backspin, not hard.
Show it once from the front and once from the side, slowly. Then let your child try.
- One player lobs.
- The other takes the bandeja.
- 10 each, then swap.
How much: 10 each
Hit deep, with backspin
Lob start
The rules
Play points that always start with a lob.
- One side starts every point with a lob from the back
- The other side must answer with a bandeja
- Play the point out; score like tennis
- One game, then swap who lobs
Fair play: A grown-up must play the bandeja to the backhand side only.
- Points
- Tennis points: 15, 30, 40, game.
- Fouls
- The point goes to the other side: a smash instead of a bandeja on the first overhead; the ball hitting the other side's wall before the floor; a ball that bounces twice
- Win
- Win more games after 4 games.
