- Check the space and the kit.
- Get your child's attention first.
- Show it from two sides.
- Say one thing only.
- End on one that works.
Put the phone down where you can see it. Tap Next with your thumb, or use the arrow keys.
Is the space marked?
A tape line as the mat edge.
Three minutes to get warm.
Easy jogging on the spot, then arms and legs. How to warm up well is explained at workonfitness.com.
- Stand at the line, right hand on the chest, and bow with a slight lean forward: tazim.
- On "Kurash", step forward into a ready stance.
- On "Tokhta", freeze at once. On "Vakt", stand still and wait.
Show it once from the front and once from the side, slowly. Then let your child try.
- Bow at the line.
- Act each command on the call.
- Stop at once on Tokhta.
How much: 4 commands, 5 rounds
Tokhta means stop now
Surprise stop
The rules
You call the commands in a mixed order, with sudden "Tokhta" calls.
- Start with Tazim at the line
- Call "Kurash": the children move round the room in a ready stance
- Call "Tokhta" at any moment: everyone freezes. Call "Vakt": everyone stands still with the hands by the sides
- 10 calls; finish with Tazim
Fair play: A grown-up must also say what each call means as they act it.
- Points
- 1 point for each call acted correctly; 2 points for a freeze on "Tokhta" within one second.
- Fouls
- Lose 1 point: moving after "Tokhta"; skipping the bow at the start or end; the wrong action for a call
- Win
- Beat your best from 10 calls.
- 8
- 12
- 15
The child does the bow and all 4 commands correctly twice.
End on one that works. If it was hard today, finish with the easier version.
Well played.
