Is the space marked?
- A putting start line
- A target box 2 m by 2 m
- A hitting line with a safe zone behind
- Flags or cones at 20, 40 and 60 m for the distance game
A club laid on the ground pointing at the target; a ball.
Three minutes to get warm.
Easy jogging on the spot, then arms and legs. How to warm up well is explained at workonfitness.com.
- Stand behind the ball and pick a target.
- Take two practice swings beside the ball.
- Set the clubface behind the ball pointing at the target.
- Then set the feet parallel to the club on the ground, and swing.
Show it once from the front and once from the side, slowly. Then let your child try.
- Pick a target.
- Take two practice swings.
- Set the clubface to the target.
- Then the feet.
- Then swing.
How much: 10 shots
Same routine every time
Five spots
The rules
Putt from 5 positions round a hoop; all 5 in before you move back.
- Mark 5 spots round a hoop, each 1 m away
- Do the full routine, then putt from the first spot
- A ball that stops inside the hoop scores; move to the next spot
- When all 5 have scored, move every spot 50 cm further away. 3 minutes
Fair play: A grown-up starts from 2 m.
- Points
- 1 point for each putt that stops inside the hoop.
- Fouls
- No point for that putt: skipping a step of the routine; setting the feet before the clubface; changing the routine after a miss
- Win
- Beat your best in 3 minutes.
