Is the space marked?
- A start line
- A wall target
- Two-cone gates
- A 20 by 20 yard grid
Cones in a triangle; a ball.
Three minutes to get warm.
Easy jogging on the spot, then arms and legs. How to warm up well is explained at workonfitness.com.
- Look over your shoulder before the ball arrives to see where the space is.
- Receive with the inside or outside of the foot, pushing the ball a step into that space.
- Pass on with your next touch, call the next name and move to a new cone.
Show it once from the front and once from the side, slowly. Then let your child try.
- Cushion the pass and take the first touch into open space.
- In threes, one- and two-touch passes with eyes up.
- Move after each pass.
- Call a name before each pass.
How much: 3 rounds of 3 minutes
Touch it where you want to go
Give and go
The rules
Two attackers against one defender, attacking a goal.
- Two attackers start 20 m from a small goal; one defender stands between
- The attacker with the ball passes to the other, runs past the defender and gets the ball back
- Shoot at the goal
- 5 attacks, then rotate
Fair play: A grown-up defender may only walk.
- Points
- 1 goal for a shot that scores; 2 goals if it came straight after a give and go.
- Fouls
- The attack ends: a first touch that stops the ball dead; passing without calling a name; the defender tackling from behind
- Win
- The most goals after everyone has attacked 5 times.
