A ball, 3 m apart, then 5 m and 7 m; a wall can replace the partner.
Three minutes to get warm.
Easy jogging on the spot, then arms and legs. How to warm up well is explained at workonfitness.com.
- Put the standing foot beside the ball, toes pointing at your partner.
- Turn the kicking foot out, toe up, and swing it so the inside of the foot strikes the middle of the ball.
- To receive, put the inside of the foot in the ball's path and let it move back a little as the ball arrives.
Show it once from the front and once from the side, slowly. Then let your child try.
- Standing foot beside the ball.
- Pass with the inside of the foot.
- Receive with the inside of the foot, moving it back on contact to cushion the ball.

How much: 20 passes, 3 rounds
Plant the foot, toe up
Knock the cone
The rules
Pass at a cone 5 m away; a touch scores even if it stays up; step back after 3 hits.
- Stand a cone 5 m away
- Take turns to pass at it with the inside of the foot
- After 3 hits, that player steps back 1 m
- 10 passes each
Fair play: A grown-up passes with the weaker foot.
- Points
- 1 point for each hit; 1 more point if it knocks the cone over.
- Fouls
- No point for that pass: a toe poke instead of the inside of the foot; the ball lifted off the ground; stepping over the passing line
- Win
- More points after 10 passes each.
- 3
- 6
- 9
8 of 10 passes reach the partner and are controlled with the first touch.
End on one that works. If it was hard today, finish with the easier version.
