- A start line
- A cone gate
- A small goal (two cones 2 m apart)
- A passing mark 5 to 8 m away
A cone gate; then two goals 3 m wide and 5 m apart.
Three minutes to get warm.
Easy jogging on the spot, then arms and legs. How to warm up well is explained at workonfitness.com.
- Dribble slowly toward a still defender.
- Just before you reach the end of their stick, drag the ball across your body with one touch.
- Go past on that side.
- Do it to the other side.
Show it once from the front and once from the side, slowly. Then let your child try.
- Dribble at the gate.
- Before the defender's stick can reach, pull the ball across to one side with one touch and go past.
- Both sides.
- Then 1 v 1: the defender defends 5 times, then swap.
How much: 5 attacks each side, then 5 in the game
One touch, across the body
The game
The rules
1 v 1 on two goals; a goal is dribbling over the line with the ball.
- Each player guards one 3 m goal; the goals are 5 m apart
- The attacker starts with the ball at their own goal
- The attacker scores by dribbling over the defender's goal line
- 5 attacks, then swap
Fair play: A grown-up defender must keep the stick in one hand.
- Points
- 1 point for each goal; the defender scores 1 point for each ball won.
- Fouls
- A point to the other player: two or three touches in the pull instead of one; the stick above the waist; the defender hitting the attacker's stick
- Win
- More points after 5 attacks each.
- 1
- 2
- 3
3 of 5 attacks score against a defender.
End on one that works. If it was hard today, finish with the easier version.
