A card with the rules; a toy pony.
Three minutes to get warm.
Easy jogging on the spot, then arms and legs. How to warm up well is explained at workonfitness.com.
- Read the yard rules from the card, one at a time, and act each out with the toy pony.
- Walk the toy toward a "pony" from the side, saying "hello" as you come.
- Read the road rules: avoid roads; if you must ride on one, no more than two side by side, and wear bright clothing.
Show it once from the front and once from the side, slowly. Then let your child try.
- The yard rules: helmet and boots on, jewellery off; walk, never run; speak as you approach.
- Never behind an unaware pony; an adult goes into the paddock with you; wash hands after.
