- A square
- A stopping line for the braking game
Thin sticks or branches; a low kerb away from traffic; helmet and gloves.
Three minutes to get warm.
Easy jogging on the spot, then arms and legs. How to warm up well is explained at workonfitness.com.
- Ride slowly toward a stick, standing, pedals level, body a little low.
- Let the bike roll over it while your arms and legs bend like springs.
- At the kerb, look past the edge, not down at it.
- As the front wheel drops, let the arms straighten and push the hips back.
Show it once from the front and once from the side, slowly. Then let your child try.

The rules
The first rider shows a line over the sticks, the others copy it.
- Scatter 4 sticks over a 15 m strip
- The leader rides a line over 3 of them
- Each follower rides the same line
- Next rider leads. 4 turns each
Fair play: A grown-up leader picks a line that they say aloud first.
- Points
- A follower scores 1 point for each stick rolled over on the leader's line; the leader scores 1 point for each follower who misses one.
- Fouls
- No points for that ride: braking on the stick; a foot down; riding sitting down
- Win
- The most points after everyone has led 4 times.
- 6
- 10
- 14
