Setup · 1 minute

Is the space marked?

A public pool with a lifeguard; light clothes for one session.

Warm up · 3 minutes

Three minutes to get warm.

Easy jogging on the spot, then arms and legs. How to warm up well is explained at workonfitness.com.

Show it · 1 minute
  1. At the edge, explain each step with your arms before your child gets in; if you swim, show it in the water.
  2. Sit on the edge and slide in gently: never jump.
  3. Lie back, arms and legs spread like a star, and breathe slowly: the body floats.
  4. Tread water: the legs pedal slowly and the hands sweep slowly side to side.

Show it once from the front and once from the side, slowly. Then let your child try.

The skill · 20 minutes
  1. Slide in from sitting.
  2. Lie on the back and float for 60 seconds, breathing calmly, as if fallen into cold water.
  3. Tread water for 1 minute, the hands sculling.
  4. Swim 50 m.
  5. Get out at the side. Later, the same in light clothes.

How much: the whole set once

Lie back, breathe, float
