- A turning cone at 10 m and at 15 m
- A throwing line well behind the landing area
- Chalk or tape rows for scoring jumps and throws (1, 2, 3 points)
A take-off line and a soft landing; chalk to mark.
Three minutes to get warm.
Easy jogging on the spot, then arms and legs. How to warm up well is explained at workonfitness.com.
- Stand at the line on one foot.
- Hop forward and land on the same foot: "same".
- Step forward onto the other foot: "different".
- Jump and land on both feet: "both". Swing the arms forward on each part.
Show it once from the front and once from the side, slowly. Then let your child try.
- From standing, hop: land on the same foot.
- Step: land on the other foot.
- Jump: land on both feet.
- Swing the arms back to take off and forward through each part.
How much: 5 starting on each foot, with no long run-up
Three equal jumps
Beat your mark
The rules
Measure to the landing mark nearest the line and try to pass it.
- Each player has 5 jumps
- Mark each landing and measure to the mark nearest the line
- The longest jump done in the right order is your mark for next time
Fair play: Each player is measured against their own mark.
- Points
- 1 point for each jump done in the right order with a two-foot landing.
- Fouls
- The jump does not count: the feet go in the wrong order; a run-up; landing on one foot at the end
- Win
- The longest jump done in the right order. On your own, beat your mark from last time.
- 3
- 4
- 5
5 jumps in a row in the right order, landing on both feet.
End on one that works. If it was hard today, finish with the easier version.
Well played.
